Gold in High Jump, Silvers in Relays Highlight Final Day of Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships

KINGSTON, R.I. – A gold medal in the high jump and two teams grabbing podium finishes in the relays highlighted an eventful day for the Hawks on day two of the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships.
 
The Hawks finished seventh with 58 points on the weekend.
 
 
TRACK EVENTS
  • Matt Coffey started the Hawks on the track with two points, securing a seventh-place finish in the mile run with a time of 4:15.33. Rookie Anthony Gargani finished just behind, missing out on a spot in the points with his ninth-place time of 4:20.06.
  • Tyhir Jones and Michael Brittingham followed suit with points for the Hawks in the 400m finals after qualifying on Saturday. Jones' time of 50.22 secured fifth place, while Brittingham took seventh with his time of 50.28, three runners separated by .06s.
  • Kyle Magee nearly grabbed a podium finish in the 500m finals, under a second off of the top three. His time of 1:06.25 secured fourth, while teammate Luke Noss grabbed a seventh-place time of 1:06.97.
  • Again, a pair of Hawks found the scoring in the 800m. Led by Jayden Greene, the junior tallied a sixth-place time of 1:57.39. Teammate Sean Murphy's time of 2:01.09 grabbed him eighth.
  • Gavin Campbell posted a seventh-place mark of 2:30.67 in the 1000m.
  • The Hawks closed out the championships with back-to-back runner-up performances in the relays.
  • The squad of Owen Moelter, Gavin Campbell, Maris Tranquille and Jayden Greene posted a second-place time in the 4x800 of 7:40.69 to defeat Loyola and La Salle by nearly a second.
  • In the 4x400 relay, Michael Brittingham, Tyhir Jones, Luke Noss and Kyle Magee cruised to the second runner-up finish in as many races. The time of 3:20.29 was nearly two seconds quicker than the rest of the field after George Mason took the top spot.
 
FIELD EVENTS
  • Patrick Fehm opened the day up for the Hawks with a gold medal, grabbing the top mark in the conference in the high jump. The junior tied his season best with a mark of 2.08m to win gold.
 
UP NEXT
  • The ECAC Indoor Track and Field Championships begin next week at the Boston University Track & Tennis Center, action kicking off on Friday, March 10.
