Men's Track and Field Places Fourth at the IC4A Indoor Track and Field Championships

BOSTON, Mass- Saint Joseph's men's track, and field concluded their season at the IC4A Indoor Track and Field Championships. The Hawks saw two individuals and two relays medal and produced six scoring performances to end the meet with an impressive 39 points which was good for fourth place out of a total of 42 teams competing.
 
TRACK EVENTS:
 
  • In the 500m graduate student Kyle Magee placed second overall in a time of 1:04.13. This is the second year in a row that Magee has scored in this event at this meet. Not too far behind him was rookie Luke Noss who took sixth in a time of 1:04.70 to score three points in his second championship final.
  • Junior Jayden Greene proved to be the face of consistency placing third in the 800m final with a time of 1:51.52.
  • Graduate student Ira Daly capped off an impressive indoor campaign with a tenth-place finish in the 3,000m. Daly nearly tied his PR running a time of 8:11.17. Senior Matt Coffey dropped six seconds off his previous personal best in this event to run 8:13.53 which now moves him up to number five on the SJU top ten all-time list. Sophomore Kevin Jumper also had a strong showing in the unseeded section of this event clocking a time of 8:22.25 to take third overall in his heat and set a new lifetime best.
  • The DMR of Tommy Johnson (3:04.91), Sean Murphy (50.66), Josh Thaler (1:52.18) and Anthony Gargani (4:14.15) placed eighth in a time of 10:01.90.
  • The 4x800m relay of Owen Moelter, Maris Tranquille, Gavin Campbell, and Jayden Greene took second overall in a time of 7:30.39. Their time just misses the school record of 7:29.68 from 1985.
  • Concluding competition for the day was the 4x400m relay which placed second in a time of 3:14.61. The relay was comprised of Magee, Noss, Michael Brittingham, and Jake Carrubba.
 
UP NEXT:
The Hawks have some time away from competition and will open their outdoor season at the Rider Five Way meet on Saturday March 25.
