Men's Track and Field Has Successful Weekend Campaign at the Colonial Relays

WILLIAMSBURG Va. – The Saint Joseph's men's track and field team had an impressive showing at the Colonial Relays. The Hawks secured wins in the 400m hurdles and SMR, and placed second in the 4x1500m relay. There were also many top ten finishes and personal best across all event groups. 
 
FRIDAY TRACK EVENTS:
  • Kicking off the weekend action was Kevin Jumper who competed in the unseeded section of the 5,000m. Jumper ran to a new lifetime best time of 14:48.20, good for sixth overall in his heat.
  • In the 800m, junior Gavin Campbell and sophomore Joshua Thaler both notched top ten finishes in this event. Campbell was ninth in a time of 1:55.02 while mere seconds behind him was Thaler who took tenth in a time of 1:55.04. Sean Murphy (12th, 1:55.58), Maris Tranquille (20th 1:56.86) and Graham Phillips (29th 1:57.68) rounded out a large Hawk presence in the event.
  • In the 100m, Donald Adams and Alex McGeary recorded times of 11.23s and 11.68s respectively.
  • In a dominant performance, graduate student Kyle Magee cruised to a win the 400m hurdles in a time of 53.30s. Magee's time now ranks second in the A-10 and snags the IC4A qualification standard in this event. Rookie Luke Noss also had a strong showing by placing seventh in a time of 54.86.
  • Jake Carrubba led a duo of Hawks in the 200m with a time of 23.05s. Shortly behind him was McGeary, who crossed the line in a time of 23.75s.
  • The open section of the 1,500m saw junior Noah Deckert claim an eighth-place finish. His time of 3:55.81 is close to a ten-second personal best and just barely misses the IC4A standard. Junior Tommy Johnson also set a collegiate best time of 3:57.77 to take 24th overall. Rookie Anthony Gargani was 29th in a time of 3:58.32.
  • Graduate Student Ira Daly had an impressive showing in the invitational section 1,500m. Daly was seventh overall in a collegiate-best time of 3:50.96. This time also satisfies the IC4A standard in this event and ranks him in the top ten of the Atlantic 10. Senior Matt Coffey also set a collegiate-best time in this event clocking a time of 3:53.23 which was good for 13th overall in the field.
  • In an electrifying close to the evening, senior Colin Kane placed fifth overall in the 10,000m with a time of 30:35.59. Jay Shanahan also dipped under the 31-minute mark with a time of 30:51.51, which was good for 12th place and a PR by over a minute. Both Hawks were well under the IC4A standard in this event.
 
FRIDAY FIELD EVENTS:
  • Junior Patrick Fehm took second in the high jump with a best mark of 2.04m.
  • Donald Adams represented the Hawks in the long jump with a best leap of 6.13m.
 
SATURDAY TRACK EVENTS
  • Day two started off on a high note with the sprint medley relay claiming gold in a time of 3:27.65. Michael Brittingham and Noss ran in the two 200m legs, Magee on the 400m leg, and an anchoring leg by Thaler on the final 800m.
  • Jayden Greene represented the Hawks in the invitational section of the 800m coming away with a time of 1:53.76, which was good for eighth overall.
  • The distance medley relay of Johnson (3:08.22), Darren Cammauf (49.08), Murphy (1:56.11) and Deckert (4:23.51) placed seventh overall in a time of 10:16.94
  • The Hawks claimed silver in the 4x1,500m relay in a time of 15:53.85. The relay was comprised of Campbell, Coffey, Gargani, and Daly.
SATURDAY FIELD EVENTS:
  • In his second event of the weekend, Patrick Fehm notched a top-ten finish in the triple jump placing ninth with a mark of 13.86m.
