Men's Track and Field has Strong Showing at the Lehigh Games and Dalton Ebanks Invitational

BETHLEHEM, Pa. and FAIRFAX, Va. - The Saint Joseph's men's track and field teams were represented at two meets this weekend with the Hawks distance side competing at the Lehigh Games and the sprinters, jumpers and middle-distance runners competing at the Dalton Ebanks Invitational. The men had strong showings at both meets with multiple athletes placing in the top ten of their events or notching personal best times.
 
LEHIGH GAMES TRACK EVENTS:
  • The Hawks had a strong showing in the 1,500m with junior Vincent Twomey and freshman Maris Tranquille placing third and fourth respectively. Twomey tied his collegiate best time in this event in a time of 4:01.84. Tranquille made his collegiate debut at this distance with a time of 4:02.21. Colton Johnson also notched a top-ten finish, placing sixth in a time of 4:03.63.
  • In the 400m, Kevin Dennin nearly tied his 400m PR with a time of 52.40s.
  • Doubling back for his second event of the day, Twomey placed fourth overall in the 800m in a time of 1:57.59. Seconds behind him was Tommy Johnson (1:57.80) and Javier Linares (1:57.82), who placed fifth and sixth overall respectively.   
  • In his second event on the day, Johnson led the Crimson and Gray runners in the 5,000m placing second in a time of 15:32.45. Carter Geer was fourth overall, running to a time of 15:54.58.  
DALTON EBANKS INVITATIONAL TRACK EVENTS:
  • Michael Brittingham placed fourth in the 400m in a time of 48.75s, well under the IC4A qualification standard for this event.
  • For the second straight week, graduate student Kyle Magee was victorious in the 400m hurdles. Magee lowered his time from last week clocking a time of 53.12s to capture the win. Rookie Luke Noss also had a strong showing running a time of 54.83s, which was good for eighth place.
  • Brittingham also ran to a personal best showing in the 200m with a time of 22.58s.
  • Concluding competition for the day were Gavin Campbell, Jayden Greene, Joshua Thaler, Michael Szwed, and Sean Murphy in the 800m. Campbell and Greene crossed the line in times of 1:54.63 and 1:54.66, respectively. Thaler hit the line in a time of 1:55.73 while moments after him was Szwed, who crossed in 1:57.13, and then Murphy, recording a time of 1:59.27. 
 EBANKS FIELD EVENTS:  
  • John Salt was ninth overall in the long jump with a mark of 6.46m. Donald Adams also competed in this event, leaping to a mark of 6.13m. 
UP NEXT:
Select Hawks will compete at the Larry Ellis invitational which begins competition on Friday April 14th and will conclude on Saturday April 15th. The meet is hosted by Princeton University at the historic Weaver Stadium.
