4x800m Relay Sets School Record at IC4A Outdoor Championships

FAIRFAX, Va. – The Saint Joseph's men's track and field team competed at the IC4A Outdoor Championships over the weekend, highlighted by a new benchmark set in the 4x800m relay on Sunday.
 
NOTABLE EVENTS - SATURDAY
  • Setting a new personal best, Ira Daly cruised to a sixth-place finish in the 1500m with a time of 3:45.47, taking off three seconds of his previous time. Less than two seconds covered the distance between Daly and first place.
  • Jayden Greene led a host of Hawks in the 800m, securing a top half finish with a time of 1:52.68, a second sitting between eighth and 16th. Joshua Thaler led a host of three Hawk finishes in four places, dropping a time of 1:54.08. Gavin Campbell finished the race with a 1:54.32, while Owen Moelter followed just behind with a 1:54.78 finish. Freshman Maris Tranquille finished for the Crimson and Gray with a 1:58.69.
  • Daly and Patrick Coyle finished neck-and-neck with each other, just .01s separating the two in the 3000m with finishes of 8:38.03 and 8:38.04.
  • Competing in the lone field event, Patrick Fehm produced a fifth-place effort in the high jump. The junior tallied a 1.99m effort (6'6¼").
  • Colin Kane finished the night with a 31:01.11 effort in the 10,000m run, securing a fifth-place finish.
 
NOTABLE EVENTS - SUNDAY
  • Opening up the final day of the event for St. Joe's, Michael Brittingham took a fifth-place finish home in the 400m finals, securing the spot with a finish of 47.84s.
  • Kyle Magee continued the scoring for the Hawks, earning a bronze medal in the 400m hurdles after a 52.57s finish, just three-tenths off the place of the top performance. With the effort, Magee nearly took four-tenths off his previous best time to set a new mark.
  • The Hawks took the top time in the men's 4x800m, eclipsing George Mason by just over two-tenths of a second. The team of Moelter, Thaler, Campbell and Greene produced a time of 7:24.86 to take top podium finish en route to a new school record, surpassing the benchmark set in 2002.
  • Wrapping up the day with a 4x400m relay, the Hawks finished the meet with a fourth-place finish with a time of 3:10.07. The relay consisted of Brittingham, Magee, Darren Cammauf and Luke Noss.
