AT THE TIP
  • Saint Joseph's heads on the road for the first time in the 2024-25 season, taking on ACC foe Syracuse on Sunday afternoon in the JMA Wireless Dome.
  • St. Joe's returns 11 starters from last year's team that set a new school record with 28 wins. The Hawks also return four starters; nearly 85 percent of production from 2023-24's squad back on Hawk Hill.
  • The Hawks are fresh off a 102-30 win over Goldey-Beacom in the season opener, setting a new school record in margin of victory. All 10 Hawks that entered the game scored, including six finishing in double-digits.

MEET THE NEW HAWKS
  • Lauren Greer - a walk-on from Archbishop Wood, Greer joins the team as a four-time PIAA State Champion. Greer helped Wood to District 12 Championships in all four years, while winning a pair of PCL Championships. The Philadelphia native also earned a pair of PCL championships in soccer, while catching the game-winning touchdown pass to take PCL Championship flag football honors, before winning the Pennsylvania State Championship.
  • Meja Jägerskog - a graduate of RIG Luleå Elite Academy, Jägerskog helped her team to Sweden Division 1 North Champions in her senior year. Jägerskog has represented Sweden's national team at the youth level, playing for the Sweden U18 team and for the U17 3x3 team. The Swede played for Chatham High School in New York in her freshman season and played club ball for the NYC New Heights.
  • Rhian Stokes - A 1,000 point scorer for Ewing High School, Stokes finished her high school career as a three-time Colonial Valley Conference Player of the Year. A three-time All-State selection, Stokes helped lead her team to a NJSIAA Group 3 State Championship in 2022-23. Stokes also played club basketball for the Philadelphia Belles and the Philly Rise.

FRESHMAN DEBUTS
  • In the win over Goldey-Beacom, Rhian Stokes and Meja Jägerskog became just the second freshman duo in program history to each score 10+ points in their collegiate debut. The only other duo shared the floor with them in the opener (Mackenzie Smith, Talya Brugler).
  • Lauren Greer scored her first points in the win, intercepting a pass and taking it to the other end for a layup as time expired.

MILESTONE WATCH
  • Head Coach Cindy Griffin is one win shy of reaching 400 career wins at Saint Joseph's and enters Sunday with 447 career wins as a head coach (St. Joe's, Loyola Maryland).
  • Mackenzie Smith surpassed Amy Facer (1993-97) to enter the top 20 in program history in scoring with her 22-point outing against Goldey-Beacom. Smith sits seven points shy of Jana Lichnerova (1995-00) in 19th.
  • Talya Brugler and Smith are just three games shy of reaching 100 career appearances in their careers and would become the 64th and 65th Hawk to reach the century mark.
  • Brugler is 11 rebounds shy from 500 in her career.
  • Laura Ziegler needs just 174 points to become the 31st Hawk in program history to reach 1,000 career points.

SERIES REWIND
  • St. Joe's and Syracuse meet for the fifth time in program history when the Hawks head on the road for the first game away from Hagan Arena in 2024-25.
  • A series that has been all Orange, St. Joe's looks for the first win over Sunday's foe in program history after entering the matchup with an 0-4 record.
  • Three of the four matchups between the teams have been decided by one possession or overtime.
