Men’s Track and Field Yields Strong Results at Penn Relays/Covert Classic

PHILADELPHIA/BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's men's track and field team competed at the Penn Relays and the Lehigh Covert Classic over the last two days, notching strong results throughout the duration of the split meet weekend.
 
The Hawks' relay teams spent Friday and Saturday within the city, taking part in the annual Penn Relays. A small contingency of Hawks took the short trip to Lehigh to take part in the Covert Classic hosted by the Mountain Hawks.

SATURDAY RESULTS – PENN RELAYS
  • In the 4x800m, the team of Gavin Campbell, Graham Phillips, Joshua Thaler and Owen Moelter recorded a third-place effort in the relay, combining for a time of 7:31.28.
  • After advancing to the finals from yesterday's effort, the 4x400m team bested Friday's time by nearly eight-tenths of a second for a 3:14.21 finish to place seventh.
 
 
SATURDAY FIELD RESULTS - LCC
  • The Hawks tallied three in the top six of the long jump, led by Donald Adams' best leap of 6.44m to finish third. Coming in fourth, Logan Henry added a best mark of 6.43m to finish just behind his teammate. Cameron Campbell-Miller was the third Hawk in a scoring position, his effort of 6.25m good for sixth.
 
 
SATURDAY TRACK RESULTS
  • Evan McGregor led a trio of Hawks in the 1500m to begin the action on the track, placing fourth in the event with a time of 4:01.98. Tomek Przybylak finished seventh, setting a new PR by just under four-tenths of a second with a time of 4:03.62. Carter Geer capped off the event with a PR of 4:11.92.
  • James Mackey Jr. produced a third-place time in the 400m, finishing with a time of 50.50s. Kevin Dennin finished just outside of a scoring position with a time of 52.35s for 10th.
  • Immanuel Rota-Talarico highlighted a group of four Hawks in the 800m with a time of 1:57.14, finishing just outside of the top eight in 10th.
  • Mackey Jr. tallied his second scoring finish of the day in the 200m, placing seventh with a time of 23.44s. Dennin finished 12th, crossing the line in 24.23s.
 
UP NEXT
The Hawks head down to Fairfax, Va. next weekend to take part in the Atlantic 10 Outdoor Championships. Competition begins on Saturday, May 5.
