PHILADELPHIA - Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse defenseman
Levi Verch earned three All-American honorable mention honors, while
Levi Anderson earned recognition from USILA as the Hawks concluded their successful 2024 campaign. In addition,
Patrick Clemens and
Alex Keener were named to the roster of the USILA Senior All-Star Game on May 24.
Earlier this month, Verch was named an All-American honorable mention from
USA Lacrosse Magazine and
Inside Lacrosse, being selected as an honorable mention by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) on Thursday morning.
Verch wrapped up his junior season as one of the most dominant defensemen in the Atlantic 10, leading the conference with nearly two caused turnovers per game (1.81) and ranking him 16
th in the country in the category. His 29 caused turnovers was second-most in program history, falling one shy of matching the school record set by Will Farrell in 2014. Verch also added five ground balls per game, tallying 80 on the year and finishing his season as one of just six non-faceoff specialists to average at least five ground balls per game.
Joining Verch with USILA All-American honorable mention honors,
Levi Anderson also earned the postseason accolade after capping off his Saint Joseph's career as the all-time leading scorer in program history (222). Finishing with 140 career goals, one of three Hawks to shatter the goal-scoring record entering the year, Anderson sits third all-time in career goals and in career assists (82). The Calgary, Alberta native led the Hawks with 57 points on the year with 33 goals and 24 assists to his name, tied for the seventh most points scored in a single season for SJU. Anderson was also drafted in the third round of the Premier League Lacrosse Draft, taken as the 21
st pick by the California Redwoods.
Each earning spots on the USILA Senior All-Star Game roster, both Clemens and Keener will be representing the South team in Friday's Division I/Division II game, starting at 6 p.m. at Widener University.
Clemens wrapped up his Hawk career after compiling 155 ground balls and 74 caused turnovers (second in program history) over his decorated time on Hawk Hill. The Springfield native was a four-time all-conference defenseman, recording career-highs in caused turnovers (19) and ground balls (43) in his final season. A multi-year captain, Clemens joined Verch to help lead a Hawk defense that ranked seventh in the country in man-down defense (.759) and 14
th in the country in scoring defense (10.3).
Keener, a First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection in 2024, also produced career-highs this season. The long-stick midfielder tallied 18 caused turnovers on the season and collected 29 ground balls. Keener scored a pivotal goal in the regular season finale against Richmond to extend the Hawks' conference win streak to 25 games, while adding his second goal of his season with four caused turnovers and five ground balls in the Atlantic 10 semifinals to help the Hawks capture their second conference title in the last three years.
The Hawks earned their second NCAA Tournament berth in program history this season, entering the tournament with a program-best and nation's longest win streak at 12 games before falling to #5 Virginia in the opening round in Charlottesville.
