Susannah Anderson has been named an assistant coach for the Saint Joseph's softball program, head coach Gina McCool announced on Tuesday.

A standout pitcher at Boston College, Anderson comes to Hawk Hill after spending the previous year as a coach and teacher at Mystic Valley Regional Charter School. On the field, Anderson guided the Eagles to a 16-6 record and a second-place finish, while also helping Bailey DeLeire to Commonwealth Athletic Conference Small Division MVP honors.

"I am thrilled to welcome Susannah Anderson to Hawk Hill. Susannah is a known competitor, a natural educator and a proven leader," said McCool. "I have no doubt that Susannah will make an immediate impact within our pitching staff and our program."

"I couldn't be more thrilled to become a part of the St. Joe's community and work hard to help further our softball program's success! I am so thankful for Coach McCool, Coach Matt, Jill Bodensteiner, and the entire athletic department for welcoming me with so much enthusiasm and encouragement," Anderson said. "I'm so excited to be on Hawk Hill!"

Prior to Mystic Valley Regional Charter School, Anderson was a five-year standout in the circle at Boston College. Setting program records for appearances (155), starts (115) and innings pitched (702.2), Anderson also ranks third in complete games (55), sixth in strikeouts (467) and tied for ninth all-time in wins (39).

Named an All-ACC standout and All-Region recipient as a junior, the All-ACC Academic team honoree graduated with a bachelor's degree in communications and a master's degree in sports administration. Following graduation, Anderson played professionally in Germany for the Mannheim Tornados.

Anderson joins McCool's staff that includes assistant coach Matt Klampert, who is in his second year on Hawk Hill.
