Women’s Track and Field Finish Two-Day Meet at Dr. Sander Scorcher

NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Saint Joseph's women's track and field team wrapped up a two-day meet at The Armory, competing at the Dr. Sander Scorcher on Saturday hosted by Columbia University. 
 
DAY ONE
  • Alexis Westawski started the day off in the open section of the 800m, placing eighth in a time of 2:18.53. Tess Crossan (2:13.61) and Samantha Korck (2:18.5) each ran competitive races in the invitational section of the 800m.
  • In the invitational section of the 60m dash, Sammy Walz crossed the line in 7.80 seconds. 
  • The open section of saw Judith Walker lead the Hawks in a 8.03s finish. Maya Adams finished close behind in 8.06s, while Cecilia Abruzzo rounded out the event for the Hawks in 8.26s. 
  • Senior Jessica Rubio ran in the open section of the 400m, running a time of 58.42s. Fellow senior Kimberly Johnson finished in 1:00.26. In the open section of the event, Stephanie Cristinzio ran a time of 1:01.75. 
 
DAY TWO
  • Danielle Juliano opened the second day of the meet in the open section of the mile, finishing with a time of 5:18.44.
  • In the open 200m, Sammy Walz finished with a time of 25.62s to take seventh. Only a tenth of a second separated Judith Walker (26.74s) and Cecilia Abruzzo (26.83s).
  • Ava Curry finished in the top half of a competitive field in the mile with a time of 4:54.12, while freshman Danika Slits followed shortly after to finish with a 5:03.38 to close out the day for the Hawks.
 
UP NEXT
The Hawks return to The Armory next weekend to take part in the Scarlet Knight Open hosted by Rutgers on Friday, January 25.
