Men’s Track and Field Kicks Off Indoor Season at Penn Opener

PHILADELPHIA - The Saint Joseph's men's track and field team opened its season at the Penn Opener on Saturday afternoon inside The Ott Center.
 
SATURDAY TRACK EVENTS
  • Three Hawks finished just hundredths of a second apart in the 60m prelims, with Logan Henry leading the group in a personal-best 6.98. Right behind him was Benjamin Henry at 7.00, followed by Henry Peklo at 7.11. Freshman Jerael Moore posted a 7.14 in his collegiate debut, while Adam Petersen clocked 7.24. Paride Iacono rounded out the Hawks' lineup with a time of 7.32.
  • Seven Hawks placed inside the top 18 of the 600m, led by Alex Wockenfuss, who opened his collegiate career with a third-place finish in 1:19.44. Chris Manzo followed in seventh with a personal-best 1:20.27, while Elijah Smith claimed eighth in 1:20.76. Cristian Cruz impressed in his first collegiate race with an 11th-place 1:21.43, and Regent Walden added a personal best of 1:21.69. RJ Mallery also debuted with 1:22.37, while Colin Donahoe closed out the group with a personal-best 1:25.41.
  • Maris Tranquille led the Hawks in the 1000m with a sixth-place finish in 2:29.72, with Immanuel Rota-Talarico close behind in eighth at 2:30.06. Matt Carnes placed 10th in 2:34.36. Anton Bovone followed with a time of 2:38.09, while Tommy Silvester rounded out the group at 2:39.48.
  • Benjamin Henry led the way in the 300m, winning the event in 33.64 to set a new meet record. Darren Cammauf followed with a personal-best 34.19 for second place. Logan Maloney and Luke Noss placed sixth and eighth with times of 34.64 and 34.71, respectively, while freshman Brody Wyatt finished in his collegiate debut at 34.74. Eli Turner added a personal best of 36.12, and freshman Layton Holt clocked 36.44 in his first collegiate race.
  • Wyatt, Cammauf, Noss, and Holt had a sixth-place finish in the 4x400m relay, clocking in at 3:18.25. Close behind, Wockenfuss, Manzo, Walden, and Smith secured seventh with a time of 3:18.67. The group of Cruz, Mallery, Tranquille, and Donahoe rounded out the Hawks' relays, placing 14th in 3:30.60.
SATURDAY FIELD EVENTS UP NEXT
The Hawks are off for nearly a month, returning to Penn on January 10 for the Penn Select.
