LAST TIME OUT
  • Laura Ziegler nearly singlehandedly outscored Loyola Chicago on Sunday afternoon, scoring a program-high 43 points as the Saint Joseph's women's basketball team surged to its eighth-consecutive win in an 83-45 victory inside Hagan Arena.
  • St. Joe's built an 11-point lead after 10 minutes before Ziegler registered 19 of the 23 points scored in the second quarter, including a 14-0 personal run to help put the Hawks up by 26 at the half. The offense continued to surge in the second half, led by Ziegler with another 15-point quarter in the third before breaking the program record in the final frame as the Hawks routed the Ramblers, 83-45.
  • Ziegler finished 17-26 (.654) from the field to become the second Hawk in program history to eclipse 40 points. Mackenzie Smith scored 17 points, the pair combining for 60 of the team's 83 points on the afternoon for the most points scored by a duo in program history.

HAWK NOTES
  • Laura Ziegler was named a semifinalist for the Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Award. The junior was selected to the USBWA's Ann Meyers Drysdale Player of the Year Award Watch List last week.
  • The Danish forward has scored 10+ points in 23 of 24 games this season after a record-breaking 43 points against Loyola Chicago to set the new single-game scoring record at Saint Joseph's. The junior is second all-time in program history with 38 double-doubles in her career.
  • Ziegler ranks fifth in the country with 11.6 rebounds per game, while her 10.0 defensive boards per contest leads the NCAA.
  • Mackenzie Smith and Talya Brugler were named to the watch list for the 2025 Women's College All-Star Game presented by Herbalife, which is awarded to players in their final years of eligibility. 
  • Smith has registered 14 games this season with 15+ points.
  • Ziegler and Smith rank in the top 10 in scoring in the conference, and Smith currently third in A-10 in three-point percentage (43.5 percent).
  • St. Joe's allowed under 50 points in four-consecutive games, ranking lowest in the A-10 and ninth in the country with just 54.2 points per game allowed.
  • The Hawks rank second in the Atlantic 10 in both assist/turnover ratio (1.31) and assists per game (18.1). The marks rank 17th and 18th, respectively, in the nation in each category.

MILESTONE MARKS
  • Laura Ziegler ranks fifth all-time in program history with 840 career rebounds and is tied for sixth with 95 career blocks. Ziegler's 1,256 points ranks 15th in school history.
  • Ziegler became just the fourth forward in program history to record at least 100 assists in a single-season, joining Amy Mallon (1992-93), Kim Foley (1988-89) and Maureen Dougherty (1990-91).
  • Mackenzie Smith is eight rebounds shy of becoming the third player on the team to reach 500 career rebounds, Laura Ziegler and Talya Brugler the 23rd and 24th Hawk in program history to reach 500 rebounds in their career.
  • Smith and Ziegler's combined 60 points against Loyola Chicago set a new school record for most points scored by a duo.
  • An appearance for Smith in tomorrow's game would be the 120th of her career and would match Angela Zampella for 17th all-time in program history.
  • Brugler is 25 points shy of entering top five in program history in scoring, while Smith ranks 10th in school history with 1,488 career points and is seven points away from surpassing Megan Compain in ninth.

SERIES REWIND
  • St. Joe's enters with a 17-10 record against Richmond in the series, but the Hawks enter Thursday's matchup with a two-game losing streak.
  • The home team holds winning records on each side of the matchup as St. Joe's looks to even its road record, entering 6-7 inside Richmond. The Spiders hold a four-game win streak inside the Robins Center.
