PHILADELPHIA – A sweep of all four completed singles matches led the Saint Joseph's men's tennis team to a 4-1 win over Jefferson at the Legacy Tennis Center on Wednesday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Jefferson took the early lead with a pair of doubles wins;
Othman Bezzaz and
Ernesto Ruy won their first-flight match in a tiebreaker, but the Rams won the other two flights to secure the point.
• The Hawks turned the tables in singles play. Bezzaz got things started with a straight-sets win in the fourth flight before Ruy claimed his second-flight matchup in straight sets as well to give the Hawks the lead.
•
Santiago Valle rallied from a set down to win his third-flight match in a supertiebreaker before
Justus Agbo clinched the win with a rally of his own, taking his contest in the first flight in a supertiebreaker to lock up the victory for the Hawks.
