New School Record and Six Podium Finishes Highlight Final Day for Men’s Track at A-10 Indoor Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – Six podiums, a broken school record and a new facility record highlighted an action-packed final day for the Saint Joseph's men's track and field team at the Atlantic 10 Championships on Saturday. The Hawks finished with 76 points to place sixth as a team.
 
 
TRACK RESULTS
  • Matt Hoffman nearly scored in his conference meet debut, finishing 12th in the mile with a time of 4:17.02. Jack Bolling finished just two seconds behind his teammate with a 4:19.04 finish.
  • The Hawks got on the board for the first time of the day through Benjamin Henry, who qualified for all three of his finals on Friday. The junior earned a podium spot in the 400m finals as his time of 48.15s placed third in the event.
  • St. Joe's earned 16 points in the 500m finals as four Hawks qualified in the event. Tommy Silvester became the second Hawk to podium in as many events, the rookie earning second with a time of 1:04.16. Darren Cammauf finished fourth, just over two-tenths off of a podium finish with a time of 1:04.47. Luke Noss (1:05.02) and Chris Manzo (1:06.51) took seventh and eighth to round out a strong performance from the Crimson and Gray.
  • Henry returned to the track in the 60m dash to add another three points for the Hawks after finishing sixth with a time of 6.95s.
  • Joshua Thaler and Jayden Greene combined for a third-fourth finish in the 800m finals with times of 1:52.00 and 1:52.38, respectively. Thaler became the third Hawk to earn a top-three finish.
  • Will Rau became the first Hawk to win gold on Saturday, besting the field by .23s in the 1000m final with a time of 2:26.00 to secure the top spot.
  • Henry received his second podium finish of the day in emphatic fashion by setting a new school record in the 200m to take second place. Henry's time of 21.30s broke James Scott's school record of 21.42s set in 2001 to earn the fifth podium spot on the afternoon.
  • The Hawks returned to the top of the conference in the 4x800m relay, setting a new facility record as the team of Silvester, Greene, Graham Phillips and Thaler took gold with a time of 7:33.81.
  • St. Joe's rounded out its performance with a fifth-place finish in the 4x400m relay. The group of Cammauf, Jake Carrubba, Noss and Henry recorded a time of 3:15.96 to earn four more points for the team.

St. Joe's returns to the track for the ECAC/IC4A Indoor Championships next weekend, beginning on Saturday, March 8 in Boston, Mass.
