VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team topped Villanova, 4-1, on Wednesday afternoon for its third win in its last four matches.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• The Hawks put forth a strong doubles showing, winning the first two flights to clinch the point.
Othman Bezzaz and
Ernesto Ruy were 6-2 winners in the first flight, while
Matthew Dubas and
Santiago Valle won by the same score in the second.
• The Wildcats drew level with a win in the top singles flight, but Dubas put the Hawks back on top with a win in the fourth. Bezzaz made quick work of his fifth-flight opponent before Ruy finished off his second-flight match to give the Hawks the win. Valle led his third-flight match as well, a game away from victory, when play was halted.
