PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph's freshman guard Emily Knouse earned her first career weekly honor Monday, being named Big 5 Rookie of the Week.
 
Knouse helped the Hawks earn a gritty win Saturday, scoring 14 points off the bench in a 69-60 Atlantic 10 victory over La Salle. The Horsham, Pa., native connected on four of her eight 3-point attempts and knocked down a pair of free throws against the Explorers. She also added two rebounds, two assists and a career-high three steals.
 
Knouse has made 16 appearances off the bench this season, averaging 5.8 points per game. Of her 84 field goal attempts, 74 have come from beyond the arc, where she is shooting 35.1 percent in her debut campaign.
 
The Hawks return to action Wednesday, Jan. 14, on the road at St. Bonaventure. Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m.
