Bronze in DMR Highlights Day One for Men's Track at Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The Saint Joseph's men's track and field team produced a pair of scoring finishes and eight qualifiers for tomorrow's finals on the opening day of the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships hosted inside of the Virginia Beach Sports Center.
 
TRACK RESULTS
Benjamin Henry wasted no time setting the tone for the day, cruising through the 400m prelims to secure an automatic qualifying spot with a time of 48.00. Logan Maloney joined him in advancing to the final, clocking 48.33 to place fifth overall. Layton Holt also competed in the event, finishing 17th in 51.61.
 
In the 500m, Cristian Cruz led the charge for the Hawks, qualifying with a time of 1:04.51. Luke Noss followed closely behind, placing fourth overall in 1:05.28 to also earn a place in the final. Brody Wyatt rounded out the group with a time of 1:06.42.
 
Jerael Moore punched his ticket to the 60m final after running 7.03 to finish second in his heat and earn an automatic berth. Logan Henry narrowly missed advancing despite a strong 7.02 effort, placing 12th overall, while Paride Iacono crossed in 7.26.
 
Two Hawks advanced out of the 800m prelims, highlighted by Alex Wockenfuss' 1:55.45 performance to secure the sixth qualifying spot. Immanuel Rota-Talarico just missed the cut despite running 1:55.18, while Chris Manzo ran 1:56.00 and Regent Walden finished in 1:57.67.
 
Will Rau continued his strong indoor campaign in the 1000m, qualifying seventh overall with a time of 2:26.84. Anton Bovone ran 2:29.03, Jackson Kane clocked 2:30.23, and Christian Napoli finished in 2:32.63 to add depth in the event.
 
Benjamin Henry returned to the track in the 200m and made it two-for-two on the day, qualifying with a 21.46 performance. Moore doubled back as well, running 22.03 to place 11th overall.
 
In the 5000m, Gavin Mogck delivered a standout effort, placing sixth overall in a personal-best 14:14.05. Anthony Gargani ran 14:46.47 and Jay Shanahan finished in 15:22.54 to round out the distance squad's performances.
 
The Hawks capped the day with a third-place finish in the 4000m Distance Medley Relay. The quartet of Rau, Alex Garcia, Elijah Smith, and Michael Glavin combined to run 9:55.57 in a strong team showing.
 
FIELD RESULTS
Cameron Campbell-Miller led the Hawks in the long jump, finishing eighth overall with a top mark of 6.83m. Logan Henry added a 12th-place finish in the event, reaching 6.36m on his best attempt.
