PHILADELPHIA – Three notable alums of the Saint Joseph's men's basketball program will be inducted into halls of fame later this year. Boo Williams will be honored by the Virgina Sports Hall of Fame (April 24-25), Mike Bantom is being inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame (Sept. 26) and Jim Lynam is being recognized by the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame (Nov. 5.)

Williams was inducted into the Saint Joseph's and Big 5 Halls of Fame in 1987 for a career that saw him score 1,554 points and pull in 838 rebound, numbers that more than 40 years after his graduation still rank 17th and 13th in SJU history, respectively. He was a team captain who averaged 12.4 points and 6.6 rebounds on the St. Joe's team that upset No. 1 DePaul in the 1981 NCAA Tournament on its way to an Elite Eight run. After graduation, established the Boo Williams Summer League, a youth basketball organization in his hometown of Hampton, Virginia, and received the Mannie Jackson Basketball's Human Spirit Award from the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame in September 2012.

An All-American as a senior in 1972-73, Bantom is one of only four players in Hawks' history to eclipse both 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds, accomplishing the feat in 84 games. His 1,151 boards are second on the SJU career list while his 1,684 points are 12th. The eighth overall pick by the Phoenix Suns in the 1973 NBA Draft, Bantom went on to 8,568 points and pull down 4,517 rebounds in a nine-year NBA career that included a trip to the NBA Finals with the Sixers in 1982, before playing another seven years in Italy.

A standout as both a player and coach for Saint Joseph's, Lynam played on three consecutive Middle Atlantic Conference championship teams and earned two NCAA Tournament All-Region honors. He scored 1,012 points for the Hawks. Following his playing career, he spent two seasons as the head coach at Fairfield and six seasons at American before he returned to Hawk Hill. In three years as the lead mentor at St. Joe's, his teams compiled a record of 68-29, culminating in a 25-8 record in 1980-81 and a trip to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight. From there, he had a 26-year coaching career in the NBA, including stints in as the head coach of the San Diego/Los Angeles Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers and Washington Bullets.
