Blake Primrose was named one of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association's Dick Howser Trophy National Players of the Month for April, the organization announced on Friday afternoon. Primrose was tabbed the National Hitter of the Month, while Florida's Aidan King was the Pitcher of the Month.
Primrose tore the cover off the ball in 16 games, leading the Hawks to a 13-3 overall record and an 11-1 mark in conference play during the month. He was named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on both April 6 and 13, and was named to the
Baseball America Team of the Week on April 14. Primrose was also tabbed for the Buster Posey Award Midseason Watch List on April 2.
The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, native hit .453 for the month with 11 home runs and 33 runs batted in. He reached base at a .556 clip and slugged 1.078 for an OPS of 1.634. He also collected three grand slams in a seven-day span between April 12 and 18, including one in each game of a doubleheader on April 18.
