WASHINGTON – Saint Joseph's senior outfielder
Joey Pagano was named the Atlantic 10 Baseball Co-Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday evening.
Â
The Ridgewood, New Jersey, native piled up the stats this week as the Hawks went 4-1, including a win in the title game of the Liberty Bell Classic and a weekend sweep of crosstown rival La Salle. In Tuesday's championship game at Citizens Bank Park, Pagano was 2-for-5 with a walk, two stolen bases, and a run scored as the Hawks eased past Penn, 8-2, to capture the Liberty Bell Classic crown for the first time since 2016.
Â
Pagano added two more hits and three more runs scored the following day as the Hawks took on Delaware. Then, in Friday's doubleheader nightcap against the Explorers, he went 4-for-6 with three doubles, a home run, and seven RBI as SJU won, 15-6, to sweep the twinbill. He then drew three walks on Sunday and scored each time as the Hawks sank the Explorers, 12-2.
Â
Pagano shared the honor with Fordham's Joey Donnelly.
Â
The Hawks return to action on Tuesday at Villanova before opening a six-game homestand on Friday afternoon against St. Bonaventure.
