Baseball Falls in the Tenth at Rhode Island

KINGSTON, R.I. – A run in the bottom of the 10th inning pushed Rhode Island past the Saint Joseph's baseball team, 4-3, at Bill Beck Field on Friday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Rhode Island (23-28 overall, 16-13 Atlantic 10) took the lead in the bottom of the first on a two-run home run by Jack Hopko.  Ryan Thompson added an RBI double in the fourth to make it a 3-0 game.

• Joey Pagano got Saint Joseph's (34-18 overall, 24-5 Atlantic 10) on the board in the top of the fifth with a solo home run.

• The Hawks drew level in the top of the eighth.  Alex Kelsey was hit by a pitch before Blake Primrose walked; Tim Dickinson was then hit by a pitch to load the bases for Carson Applegate, whose two-run single scored Kelsey and Primrose to tie the game.

• Unfortunately for the Crimson and Gray, Ryan Henschel drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the 10th to push across the winning run.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• Joe Sabbath tossed two perfect innings of relief for the Rams to earn the win, while Sam Greer took the loss for Saint Joseph's.

• Applegate collected two RBI for the Hawks, while Primrose reached base twice in the game.

• With the win, Rhode Island clinched the final berth in the Atlantic 10 Championship.
