WASHINGTON, D.C. - Four members of the Saint Joseph's softball team were recognized by the Atlantic 10 Conference as it announced its postseason awards on Thursday morning.
Julia Shearer was selected as the First Team utility player.
Taylor Trowbridge and
Meghan Sinkus were named to the Second Team.
Elyssa Hasapis was recognized as All-Rookie. Trowbridge was also on the All-Academic Team.Â
Shearer's inclusion on the First Team marks the second consecutive season and third time overall a player has earned the honor in coach
Gina McCool's tenure. Shearer hit .299 with three homers and was third in the A-10 with 38 RBI. She was also 14th in the conference in walks as a hitter. In the circle, the Hatfield, Pa. native won five games and was 11th in the conference with a 3.01 ERA. She was eighth in the A-10 with 69 strikeouts and seven complete games. As impressive as anything is her ability to throw strikes. Shearer had the fewest walks in the A-10 as a pitcher with 10, is third in NCAA D1 with 0.88 BB/7IP and fourth nationally with a 6.90 K-to-BB ratio. She also excelled defensively, committing just one error in 69 total chances, resulting in a .986 fielding percentage.
Trowbridge was fourth in the A-10 in ERA (2.64) and opponent average against (.229), while posting a 7-5 mark overall. She was fifth in the conference with eight complete games. The senior allowed the ninth fewest hits allowed in the conference and was second in the A-10 with only two wild pitches. Tied for 10th in the conference with 59 strikeouts, she became just the 10th player in program history to record 250 career punchouts when she struck out her second batter of the first inning on April 9 at Drexel.
Academically, Trowbridge is a 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honoree as well as an NFCA Scholar-Athlete. She has a 3.85 GPA and will be graduating with a BA in Political Science with minors in justice and ethics in the law as well as Asian studies and plans to attend law school.Â
Sinkus hit .314 with a homer and 18 RBI. She tied for the conference lead with three triples and is third with 21 steals. Among her 43 hits this season were nine doubles. She also walked 12 times and was hit by five pitches, helping her to a .385 on-base percentage. Her batting average is 19th in the A-10 among qualified hitters. She also only committed two errors in 80 total chances, giving her a .975 fielding percentage.
Hasapis was second among A-10 Rookies in batting average, hitting .323 with 10 doubles, two triples, a home run and 15 RBI. She is 13th among qualified hitters in average in the conference overall and seventh in the A-10 in runs scored (31) and stolen bases (14). She was also stellar at the hot corner, ranking second among primary third basemen in the A-10 with a .942 fielding percentage.
