Box Score

PHILADELPHIA - For the second game in a row, the Saint Joseph's University women's soccer team lost a hard fought overtime battle, this time to Atlantic 10 leader Dayton, 1-0 in double overtime Friday night at Finnesey Field.

The Hawks, which were coming off a 2-1 overtime loss to Rhode Island last Sunday, kept pace with Dayton for most of the game as both teams had two scoring chances in regulation.

After a scoreless first overtime session, the game remained in doubt as both teams pressed for an offensive chance.

The Flyers got an opportunity with just under three minutes remaining, earning a corner kick. After a quick pass in, the Flyers' Katie Lowstuter took a shot from 12 yards out that glanced off Hawks' freshman goalkeeper Jen Kuhn's glove and into the back of the net.

Both teams finished the game with three scoring chances apiece, while Dayton held a 14-8 differential in total shots.

Kuhn was the hard-luck loser, making two saves in net for SJU. Stacey DeLuca made three saves at the other end for the shutout.

With the loss, the Hawks fall to 4-8-0 overall and 2-2-0 in Atlantic 10 play. Dayton improves to 11-1-0 and 4-0-0 in the A-10 with the win.

Saint Joseph's returns to action Sunday when it hosts Xavier at 11 a.m.
