Cook's Goal Helps Women's Soccer Tie Bonnies, 3-3

OLEAN, NY - Saint Joseph's sophomore women's soccer forward Nancy Cook picked the perfect time to record her first goal of the season, scoring in the 90th minute to help the Hawks to a 3-3 tie versus St. Bonaventure Friday afternoon at McGraw-Jennings Field.

Trailing by one, 3-2, late in the contest, Cook received a pass from classmate Kaiti McCaffery and beat St. Bonaventure goalkeeper Lisa Eberhart to tie the game with only 47 seconds remaining in regulation.

Saint Joseph's started slowly, trailing the Bonnies early as St. Bonaventure jumped out to a 2-0 lead.

St. Bonaventure's Heather MacDougall opened the scoring at 4:24 off a pass from Jacquee Parmiter. Parmiter put the Bonnies up 2-0, beating Hawks' freshman goalkeeper Jen Kuhn at 18:15.

Despite trailing by two, the Hawks were able to gain momentum as sophomore forward Megan Schutt got Saint Joseph's on the board in the 26th minute scoring off a pass from teammate Ginette Buffone.

Saint Joseph's, who still trailed by one at halftime, quickly tied the game in the second stanza. Sophomore midfielder Kimmy Leigh tied the contest at two apiece just 1:03 into the second frame.

St. Bonaventure rallied to regain the lead, as Kristin Sotak put the Bonnies up 3-2 at 51:27.

Cook's goal at 89:13 tied the game and forced overtime.

Neither team recorded a goal, with the Bonnies out shooting the Hawks 4-3 in the overtime stanzas. St. Bonaventure also out shot Saint Joseph's for the entire game, 17-14.

Junior Nicole DiEnna, who replaced Kuhn in the first half, made eight saves to earn the tie. Eberhart made four saves at the other end for the Bonnies,.

With the tie, the Hawks move to 5-10-1 overall and 3-4-1 in Atlantic 10 play. St. Bonaventure goes to 8-8-1and 1-6-1 in the A-10 with the tie.

Saint Joseph's returns to action Sunday at Duquesne. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
