PHILADELPHIA (4/26/02) - Saint Joseph's won it first-ever gold medal in the 4x400 at the Penn Relays on Thursday afternoon to highlight the Hawks competition at the prestigious event. The 4x400 team of seniors Brooke Gilliford, Mary Korfmacher, junior Sarah Conway and sophomore Yasmin Copeland took home the gold in their section in a time of 3:56.17. Senior Bernadette Speer also performed well for SJU, placing third in the Eastern High Jump with a leap of 5'5". The Hawks will next compete at the Atlantic 10 Championships on Saturday and Sunday, May 4-5, at the University of Richmond.
