Women's Track Claims DMR Bronze on Day One of the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The Saint Joseph's women's track and field team kicked off competition at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships inside the Virginia Beach Sports Center with 11 qualifying performances on the opening day.
 
TRACK RESULTS
The Hawks saw strong success in the 400m prelims, led by Sammy Walz, who posted the fifth-fastest time overall in 56.94 to secure a place in the final. Crystal Benito narrowly missed qualifying with a ninth-place finish in 57.38, while Kendall Cooper ran 58.67 and Alessandra Schuster finished in 1:00.86.
 
In the 500m prelims, Olivia Beddow earned a spot in the final with a personal-best time of 1:17.04, finishing sixth overall. Taylor Rosen added a time of 1:18.41 in the event.
 
The Hawks' sprinters made a statement in the 60m prelims as Tamasen Allen Bey ran 7.56 and Olivia Binns clocked 7.66, with both notching personal-best performances to qualify for the final in fourth and seventh, respectively. Mariam Koita crossed in 7.82, followed by Maya Adams in 8.03.
 
St. Joe's continued its momentum in the 800m prelims with three qualifiers. Karin Dobiasch led the way with a second-place finish in 2:12.48, while Samantha Korck secured fifth in 2:14.78 and Tess Crossan claimed the eighth and final qualifying spot in 2:15.92. Sara Sherlock also competed, finishing in 2:21.13.
 
In the 1000m prelims, Majken Lutzen punched her ticket to the final with a third-place time of 2:52.15. Quinn O'Brien narrowly missed qualifying despite a strong 2:51.69 effort, and Carolyn Smith posted a 3:01.34 mark.
 
Walz returned to the track later in the day to qualify in the 200m with a time of 24.71. She was joined by Allen Bey, who ran a personal-best 24.79, and Binns, who recorded a personal-best 24.91, giving the Hawks three finalists in the event.
 
In the 60m hurdles prelims, Felicia Oh recorded a time of 9.46.
 
The distance squad competed in the 5000m, where Jonalee Adames led the group with a personal-best time of 17:52.30. Kyha D'Angelo followed in 18:38.53, while Carlyn Segrave-Daly finished in 19:04.98 to round out the Hawks' entries.
 
Saint Joseph's closed out the evening with a third-place finish in the 4000m Distance Medley Relay as Ali Fink, Benito, O'Brien, and Chloe Care combined for a time of 11:52.04.
 
FIELD RESULTS
Lily Ferguson represented the Hawks in the long jump, finishing ninth overall with a leap of 5.36m.
