PHILADELPHIA, PA (5/23/02) - For the second consecutive year, Saint Joseph's University track standout Bernadette Speer has been honored as a Second Team Academic All-District selection by VERIZON/CoSIDA. Speer, a first year Graduate student, has been a top high jumper for SJU each of the last four seasons while holding a 3.76 GPA in International Marketing. During her career on Hawk Hill, Speer has won the high jump at the Atlantic 10 Championships for the past four years. She set a high jump school record (5-8) and has been a four-time qualifier for the ECAC Championships. She is an active member of the University's "Project Mexico" and has been named to the Dean's List, as well as being named to both the Athletic Director's and Commissioner's Honor Rolls every semester.
