BRONX , NY (01/18/02) - The Saint Joseph's University women's track team competed at the Fordham/St. John's Invitational on Saturday, January 18th. The Hawks bested neighboring rival Temple while beating hosts Fordham and St. John's in the 12-team event.
Senior
Mary Korfmacher led the way for the Hawks, placing second in the 400 meter dash with a school record-breaking time of 58.80. Senior
Bernadette Speer and junior
Maisha Tyler also fared well for the Hawks winning the high jump (5'3 3/4") and long jump respectively (18'8 1/2").
Other highlights for the Hawks included a second place finish for sophomore
Sarah Click in the high jump (5'1 3/4") and third place finishes for junior
Sarah Conway in the 800 meter (2:19.04) and sophomores
Sarah Bright in the mile (5:13.86) and
Karen Weber in the 5000 (18:35.70).
The Hawks will travel to Boston on Saturday, January 26, when they will compete at the Boston University Invitational.
