NEW YORK, NY (02/28/03) - The name of the event, the NYU FastTrack Invitational, might have been a hint that the Saint Joseph's men's track team would produce some good times. In their final tune-up before next weekend's IC4A Championships, the Hawks had seven IC4A qualifiers.
Sophomore Doug Rick won the 500m with a time of 1:02.36, just missing the school record of 1:02.33 set last year by Andy Craycraft. The event treated SJU well, as freshman Andrew Thomas (1:02.54) and senior Jerry Puryear (1:02.98), finished second and third, respectively. Junior Chris Koneski (1:05.19) finished sixth in the event. All were IC4A qualifiers.
Senior Brian Rosetti ran a season-best time of 4:07.16 in the mile to capture gold in that event. Freshman Andre Laboy finished fourth (4:11.68) as both reached qualifying standards.
Freshman Mike DiDio was the final Hawk qualifier as he ran a 2:28.43 in the 1000m to place second.
Saint Joseph's returns to the track next weekend at the IC4A Championships in Boston.
