EASTON, PA (04/01/02) - The Saint Joseph's women's track team, led by senior
Brooke Gilliford, claimed third place at the Lafayette Invitational Saturday. The Hawks defeated Rider and Fairleigh Dickinson while Monmouth took first and host Lafayette placed second.
Gilliford was the workhorse for the Hawks winning the 100 meter (12.42) and 200 meter (25.55) dashes.
Maisha Tyler was also victorious, winning the long jump with a leap of 18'09.25". Tyler also finished third in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.69 seconds.
Other performers for the Hawks include
Sarah Conway who placed second in the 800 meter (2:19.42),
Denise Fergus who also finished in second place in the 3000 with a time of 10:28.99 and
Erin Blaustein's finish in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:07.19, good for a second place..
The Hawks will head to North Carolina this coming weekend to compete in the Duke Invitational. Competition begins Friday.
