PHILADELPHIA -
Saint Joseph's junior goalkeeper Rebecca Cunfer was named Atlantic 10 Student-Athlete of the Year in voting by the Conference's sports information directors, conference officials announced Thursday. Additionally, seniors Nicole Antonini, Maureen Casserly, Lauren Luft and junior Katie Young were named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Teams in voting conducted among the Conference's head coaches.
Cunfer is the Student-Athlete of the Year after earning 2005 Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference honors and National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) national academic honors last season. The junior goalkeeper from Manheim, PA, is an international relations major and a two-time member of the Saint Joseph's Athletics Directors honor roll and the A-10 Commissioner's honor roll. Cunfer started all 19 games in goal for SJU and posted the third lowest goals against average in the league at 1.64. Cunfer is only the second player in program history to earn the honor of Student-Athlete of the Year.
Antonini earns All-Conference First Team honors for the fourth year in a row, the only player in program history to do so.
Luft was named to the All-Conference Second Team in her final year in the Crimson and Gray. The past two years she has been named to the First Team. Joining Luft on the Second Team are Casserly and Young, both being honored for the first time by the Atlantic 10.
