Hawks Crush Marist for Fifth Straight Win, 15-5

POUGHKEEPSIE, NY - Seniors Keegan Wilkinson and Andrew Four and sophomore Steve Varga each scored three goals as Saint Joseph's (5-8, 5-2 MAAC) crushed Marist (6-6, 4-2 MAAC) in Metro Atlantic Lacrosse League action, 15-5. Wilkinson added five assists to finish with eight points. SJU extended it winning streak to five game and won for the sixth time in its last seven outings.

The Hawks took control of the game early as they tallied the first four goals of the game, including one each by Wilkinson, Varga, senior Brian Ponne and sophomore Steve O'Brien. Marist would come back to cut the deficit to 4-2. SJU, though, would strike twice in the last five minutes of the second quarter on goals by Varga and Four to regain the four goal advantage at 6-2 heading into the intermission.

The Hawks would come out and dominate the second half, as they outscored the Red Foxes 9-3, including a 6-2 advantage in the third period.

Steve O'Brien and Alex Lopes added two goals apiece in the winning effort. Freshman goaltender Erik Hotaling turned aside 11 shots.

Marist held the advantage in ground balls 31-22 and won 18 of the 24 draws in the contest.
