ST. CHARLES, Mo. - Sophomore Ellen Rowe netted a hat trick and junior Kelly Swanick made a pair of saves for her fifth shutout of the season as the Saint Joseph's field hockey team defeated Saint Louis, 7-0, on Sunday in a game played at Lindenwood University due to poor field conditions at SLU.

Saint Joseph's (7-10, 4-2 Atlantic 10) opened the scoring 11:10 into the contest as junior Jen Wrublesky took a cross from classmate Hannah Rogers to put the Hawks ahead. Rogers and senior Kellie Walter then contributed to Rowe's first tally of the day three minutes later to double the SJU advantage.

Rowe scored her second just less than six minutes later when she swept a rebound past SLU keeper Katherine Deem to put the Hawks on top 3-0.

With 6:18 to go in the half, junior Nicole McCreight scored her first career goal on an assist from senior Anne Schreuders to sent Saint Joseph's into the break up four.

Ninety-four seconds into the second half, Wrublesky and Rogers hooked up again for another goal. This time it was Rogers slotting home a pass from Wrublesky to give her a four-point day.

Midway through the frame, Schreuders scored on a penalty corner with an assist from Walter, and a minute later Rowe secured her hat trick when she fired home a rocket on a pass from Kasey Daly.

Deem made nine saves for Saint Louis (1-16, 0-6 Atlantic 10), while Swanick's two were good enough for the shutout.

Saint Joseph's will head to Amherst, Mass. for the Atlantic 10 Championship beginning on Friday afternoon. The Hawks will face off with city rival Temple in a semifinal game. The winner will take on the winner of the Richmond-Massachusetts game on Saturday for the conference championship.
