BRONX, N.Y. - Behind a complete-game five-hit shutout from Dani Gonzales, the Saint Joseph's softball team dispatched Charlotte on Saturday afternoon, 3-0, to advance to the Atlantic 10 Championship at Fordham's Bahoshy Field. The Hawks will face off with Massachusetts later on Saturday afternoon for the conference title. Should SJU win Saturday's contest, the teams would meet at noon on Sunday in a winner-take-all contest for a trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Gonzales gave up five hits while striking out seven against zero walks for her 16th victory of the season.

SJU scored all three runs in the top of the fourth when Sue Lebow hit a one-out, bases-loaded single to left to score Gonzales and Erika Rosenwinkel. Two batters later, Laura Cardone hit a single of her own to plate pinch runner Christine Bednar with what would prove to be the game's final run.
