Kristin Andrews Paces Women's Track at Atlantic 10 Championships

Kingston, R.I. - The Saint Joseph's women's track team placed 8-of-12 teams competing at the Atlantic 10 Championships on Saturday. Junior Kristin Andrews won the 500 meter while Jessica Di Cicco had a third place finish in the 5,000 meter run.

Andrews finished fifth in the 500m preliminaries (1:16.92) to qualify for finals and finished in 1:15.36 to take first. Andrews also ran the fastest leg in the 4x400 to help the Hawks to win their heat and finish fifth overall in 3:56.53, while SJU also took fifth (9:12.82) in the 4x800 meter relay.

Di Cicco ran almost five miles over the two days and turned in two personal records in the 3,000 and 5,000 meter runs. She ran an ECAC qualifying 17:19.95 in the 5,000m and took sixth in the 3,000m in 9:59.74.

In jumps Nohjay Nimpson took fourth with a 38'6 ¾" mark in the triple jump while Nicole McMullen and Hannah Boyce both placed eighth in the long jump (17'9. ¾") and high jump (5'3"), respectively.

Ashley Williams also qualified for finals in sprints with an eighth place finish in preliminaries (7.37) and took seventh in the final round in 7.40 seconds.

SJU competes at NYU on Friday before traveling to Boston, Mass. for the ECAC Championships March 6-7.
