Amherst, Mass. - The Saint Joseph's women's track team competed in the Atlantic 10 Championships at the Massachusetts Track and Field Complex on Saturday and Sunday. Junior Jessica Di Cicco broke the 10,000-meter school record while sophomore Stefani Zabilowicz broke the 100-meter hurdles record.
Di Cicco took sixth place to record an ECAC-qualifying time of 37:05.22 to break the previous school record (37:14.48) set by Amy Manwaring in 2003. Aimee Chegwidden also earned a qualifying time (37:11.06) taking seventh in the event. Di Cicco was also the Hawks top-finisher in the 5,000-meter in eighth with a time of 17:47.59.
Zabilowicz finished eighth in the trials with a time of 14.56 seconds to break the school record set by Valerie Ramirez (14.67) in 2007. She then bettered her time to 14.50 in the final round for an eighth overall finish.
Nohjay Nimpson had two personal-best performances with a mark of 38'7" in the triple jump to finish fifth and a throw of 126'5" in the javelin, good for seventh place. Also in jumps, Hannah Boyce tied for seventh in the high jump with a leap of 5'1".
Saint Joseph's 4x400 and 4x800 relay squads finished with season-best times to finish sixth (3:52.06) and seventh (9:17.14), respectively.
In sprints Nicole McMullen qualified for finals in the 100-meter dash with a seventh place finish in 12.35 seconds and took ninth overall (12.48). She was also SJU's top-finisher in the 200-meter dash in 11th (25.14) while Caitlin McGrath finished first for the Hawks in the 400-meter in 12th (58.65).
Saint Joseph's finished 12th for the two-day event with 18.75 points in the 12-team competition. The Hawks will compete in Swarthmore Last Chance on Monday, May 10, before heading to the IC4A Championships the following Saturday.
