Box Score

PHILADELPHIA - Senior forward Nicole McCreight tied a school record with four goals while senior midfielder Casey Fry added two more as the Saint Joseph's field hockey team scored its first win over 2010, taking down Bucknell, 7-3, on Sunday afternoon at Temple's Geasey Field.

McCreight equaled a record set in 1990 by Liz Burns and matched by Katelyn O'Brien in 2004.

Saint Joseph's (1-1) got on the board first when Hannah Rogers tipped in a ball from Jen Wrublesky for the Hawks' first goal of the season. McCreight took off on a long run down the left side three minutes before halftime to double the SJU lead.

Bucknell (0-2) equalized with a pair of quick goals after the break as Kelly Bruvik and Christine Weiss scored about two minutes apart to tie the game at two with 31:49 to go.

However, McCreight answered with her second of the game just 67 seconds later, poking a rebound past BU's Erica Perrine. McCreight found the back of the cage again three minutes later as she gave the Hawks a two-goal lead for the second time in the game.

Fry tallied her first of the season with 23:33 to go on a penalty corner to extend the lead to three, but Jennifer LaBarre answered back for the Bison with just under 15 minutes remaining.

McCreight then scored her record-tying goal directly off another corner to restore the three-goal margin before Fry tallied her second on a long shot with 6:41 to go to finish the scoring.

Kelly Swanick made seven saves in the cage to earn the win.

The Hawks will return to action on Wednesday, September 1 for a game at Drexel.
