Box Score MERION STATION, Pa. – The Saint Joseph's field hockey team suffered its first conference defeat of the season on Friday, falling to Lock Haven by a 3-0 score.
Lock Haven (11-4 overall, 1-1 Atlantic 10) opened the scoring 12:37 into the game as Nakira Downes dribbled down the right side of the field and tucked a shot past SJU's Amelia Deibler for a 1-0 lead.
The Lady Eagles struck again early in the second half as Megan Wenrich tallied her second goal of the season on a long pass from Kelly Harsh with 30:30 to play. Downes then sealed the win with her second of the game and seventh of the season with nine minutes remaining on the clock.
Deibler made a pair of saves for Saint Joseph's (4-10 overall, 1-1 Atlantic 10), while Sara Kolobielski added a defensive save for the Hawks. Elaina White made five saves for Lock Haven.
The Hawks will look to bounce back on Sunday afternoon as they travel to 10th-ranked Massachusetts. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
