EASTON, Pa. - Freshman Alec Peabody (100m), graduate student James McBride (3000m), and the 4x400m relay team won their events to lead the men's track and field team to a combined 70 points for a fourth-place finish at the Lafayette 7-Way Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Lafayette College hosted meet-champion Rider, East Stroudsburg, Fordham, Lehigh, Moravian, Muhlenberg, and Saint Joseph's at the Metzger Athletic Complex in Easton, Pa.

Coming off of a remarkable indoor season in which Peabody met the 2012-13 IC4A indoor standard for the long jump in his first collegiate meet, the freshman standout was just 0:04 and 0:05 from qualifying for the 2013 outdoor IC4As in a pair of sprinting events. Peabody took first in his first collegiate 100m (10.89) and second in the 200m (21.85, PR) to grab an outstanding 18 points for the Hawks.

In his first outdoor season with Saint Joseph's, McBride earned 10 points with his win in the 3000m (8:38.27). McBride took the first-place finish out of 31 runners in the event.

The 4x400m relay team of junior Jonathan Eisemann, freshman Christopher Banks, junior Griff Roberts, and sophomore Tyler Gallen took home the gold (3:18.33) in their event for another 10 SJU points. The relay team of Eisemann, Peabody, Banks, and Gallen was also good for a fourth-place finish (42.18) in the 4x100m as the quartet becomes the first to qualify for the 2013 IC4A Outdoor Championships.

The Hawks received two impressive middle distance performances from a pair of veterans in graduate student Dan Roark and senior captain Garrett Barbalinardo. Roark ran a personal-record 1500m (4:01.88) en route to a second-place, eight-point finish while Barbalinardo ran a personal-record 800m (1:57.25) to place third, good for six points.

Freshman Quinn Davis ran his first collegiate 1500m in 4:02.79 for a fourth-place, four-point finish before the Crimson and Gray would see the remainder of its points come from the sprinting events. Eisemann (22.05) and Gallen (22.08, PR) earned fourth and fifth-place respective finishes in the 200m for a combined six points while sophomore Brendan Robert (50.45) tallied four points with his fourth-place finish.

A notable performance was given by SJU's second-fastest 4x400m relay of junior Derrick Henry, sophomore Matthew McGarvey, Barbalinardo, and Robert. The quartet finished third (3:19.34), just 0:15 behind the runner-ups from Rider and 0:75 shy of Saint Joseph's `A' team's winning time.

Saint Joseph's returns to action next weekend at the Colonial Relays, scheduled from April 5-6. The meet will be hosted by the College of William and Mary at Zable Stadium in Williamsburg, Va. and will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
