Men's Track Members Honored at 2012-13 Banquet

April 15, 2013

PHILADELPHIA - The senior members and additional standouts from the men's track and field team were honored at the 2012-13 track and field banquet on Sunday evening.

Five awards were presented, including "Best Teammate", "Most Dedicated", "Most Improved", "Best Freshman", and "MVP".

Seniors Kyle Lampart and Garrett Barbalinardo, one of the team's captains, were recognized as "Best Teammate" and "Most Dedicated". Junior Peter Larmann earned "Most Improved" honors. Freshman Alec Peabody, who led the team in the long jump and ranked fifth behind just four seniors in the A-10 during the indoor season, was named "Best Freshman".

Sophomore Logan Mohn was voted team "MVP". Mohn has posted nothing short of an outstanding sophomore campaign as he led the Hawks with a seventh-place individual finish at the 2012 Atlantic 10 Cross Country Championships and led the team in both the 1000m and mile during the indoor season, qualifying for IC4As in both events. The sophomore took third in the mile at the 2013 IC4A Indoor Championships and fourth in the event at the 2013 Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships.

Six seniors - Barbalinardo, captain Patrick Donnelly, Lampart, Dave Manion, captain Jon Mazzio, and captain Andrew Townsend - and three graduate students - James McBride, Kevin McDonnell, and Dan Roark - were recognized for their dedication and commitment to the track and field program.

The Hawks return to action this weekend at the Larry Ellis Invitational, hosted by Princeton University in Princeton, N.J. The meet is scheduled to be held Friday, April 19 through Saturday, April 20. The Hawks' first event is tentatively scheduled for 5:00 p.m. at Weaver Stadium. Additionally, SJU will be in action on Saturday, April 20 at the Widener Invitational in Chester, Pa.
