MEET 1: PRINCETON INVITATIONAL
PRINCETON, N.J. - Graduate student Dan Roark won the 1500m and junior Michael Rankin (5000m), sophomore Logan Mohn (3000S), and the 4x400m relay team met IC4A-qualifying marks as the men's track and field team competed at Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational this past Friday and Saturday at Weaver Stadium. In a meet that featured 70 track and field programs, the Hawks recorded an impressive six top-ten performances.
After setting a new personal-record in the 1500m at last weekend's Bison Classic, Roark took nearly three entire seconds off of that time to run a 3:54.68 for the first-place finish out of 54 total competitors. Sophomore Paul Szulewski finished just over two seconds behind Roark for a third-place finish (3:56.96).
Two individual performances met IC4A standards. Competing in the 5000m Elite event, Rankin clocked in at 14:32.88 to take 16th of 103 runners. Although an IC4A-qualifying time, Rankin's time of 14:32.35 from the Colonial Relays stands as his seed time for the upcoming Outdoor Championships. Mohn, who has already met the IC4A 1500m standard, ran a season-best 9:13.76 in the 3000m steeplechase to qualify for his second IC4A event.
The 4x400m relay team of junior Derrick Henry, freshman Christopher Banks, senior Garrett Barbalinardo, and sophomore Tyler Gallen also took sixth-place in an IC4A-qualifying 3:18.57. However, the time of 3:15.62 set at the 2012-13 IC4A Indoor Championships will stand as the seed time for the Outdoor Championships.
Two additional noteworthy performances came in the form of one individual, one relay. Barbalinardo took seventh in the 400m (49.51, PR) while the 4x100m relay of junior Jonathan Eisemann, freshmen Alec Peabody and Banks, and Gallen missed the IC4A-qualifying mark by just .48 seconds (42.98).
MEET 2: WIDENER INVITATIONAL
CHESTER, Pa. - Sophomore Matthew Sutorius, junior James Gentile, senior Kyle Lampart, and junior Christopher Kinney took home the silver medal in the 4x400m relay as the men's track and field team competed at the Widener Invitational this past Friday and Saturday. Sutorius also checked in with a personal-record time of 56.92 in the 400H for sixth while Larmann took seventh in the 400m (50.45, PR).
