NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Freshman Dannah Hayward has been named the Atlantic 10 Women's Track and Field Rookie of the Week, the league office announced today. Hayward has been selected for meets competed April 15-21.

Hayward earned the honor after posting a 400H time of 1:01.46 at Princeton's Larry Ellis Invitational this past weekend. With the time, the rookie took the top freshman spot en route to a third-place finish out of 26 total competitors.

The freshman just missed breaking her own school record, which she originally broke just two weekends ago, by .05 seconds. Hayward's school-record time of 1:01.41 qualifies her for the upcoming ECAC Outdoor Championships on May 11-12 in Princeton, N.J.

Hayward and the Hawks return to action this Thursday-Saturday at the Penn Relays. Hayward will kick off SJU action with competition in the 400H on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m.
