Men's Soccer Hosts Cornell on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team will host Cornell this Saturday. Game time is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. on Sweeney Field.

Last time out, the Hawks could not recover from an early first-half 3-0 deficit as Saint Joseph's fell at Siena, 4-1, on Wednesday evening at the Siena Turf Field. Freshman midfielder Eric Jordan netted the first goal of his collegiate career while fellow rookie Jay Higbee looked solid in his collegiate debut in goal, making three saves in a full 45:00 in the second half. SJU saw a season-high 14 Hawks come off the bench in the match and saw 50+ minutes from defenders Jake Mulinge (73) and Coupar Lipp (73), midfielders Sam Irvin (63) and Mike Stuski (59), and forward Mori Diane (53).

For the season, sophomore midfielder Tim Lazorko, who assisted on Jordan's tally, leads the team in scoring with six points off of two goals and two assists. Junior midfielder Jake Nelson (2G) and senior midfielder Jimmy Reilly (1G, 1A) have also brought pressure on the offensive end of the field while senior Brendan Reilly (586:00) and junior Tommy Brooks (598:00) have been a consistent defensive presence on the back line. Redshirt senior goalkeeper Andrew D'Ottavi (1-2-3) sports a 1.62 GAA and .688 saves percentage in 555:00.

After battling their season opener to a 1-1 draw with Detroit Mercy, the Big Red of Cornell have gone on a four-game winning streak to stand at 4-0-1 in the early season. Cornell is coming off of a 2-1 victory over Binghamton on Wednesday evening. Jake Kirsch and Jake Rinow each netted a goal and Patrick Siogic assisted on both tallies to help Cornell to its their third come-from-behind victory on the year. The Big Red (now 4-0-1) has claimed all of its wins by a one-goal margin. 

For the season, Rinow and Conor Goepel lead Cornell with two goals apiece while Siogic and Stephen Reisert each have two assists to their name. Zach Zagorski (4-0-1) has seen all 491:52 in goal with a 0.73 GAA and .789 saves percentage.

CAMPER APPRECIATION NIGHT
The Hawks would like to welcome all 2013 campers to participate in Camper Appreciation Night this Saturday. All 2013 SJU Hawks Summer Camp participants will be permitted to participate in the pre-game player introductions. In addition, campers will be brought onto the field at halftime, greeted by the SJU Hawk Mascot, acknowledged and brought together for a large camp group photo.
