Box Score FENTON, Mo. – Sophomore Amelia Deibler made six saves and three different Hawks scored goals as the Saint Joseph's field hockey team defeated Saint Louis, 3-1, at Soccer Park on Sunday afternoon.
Sophomore Melanie Colozzi started things off for Saint Joseph's (8-8 overall, 3-4 Atlantic 10), taking a feed from senior Jordan Martin after a penalty corner and tucking it home to give the Hawks an early 1-0 in the first half.
Senior Nicole Gerdes then added her fifth goal of the season on an assist from Katja Hansen, while sophomore Kerri Turk contributed her second of the year, assisted by sophomore Emily Nonnemacher, to stake SJU to a 3-0 lead at halftime.
Saint Louis (2-15 overall, 0-7 Atlantic 10) got on the board in the middle of the second half as Cassie Sperruzza took a feed from Kristin Collins on the break and finished near the post to cut the Hawk margin to 3-1.
Deibler made five of her six saves in the second half to keep the Billikens at bay and secure the win.
SJU returns home for its final two regular season contests, hosting local rival La Salle on Friday before closing out with Brown on Sunday.
