TEANECK, N.J. - The Saint Joseph's women's soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to six games as the Hawks topped Columbia, 2-1, Friday evening at Fairleigh Dickinson's University Stadium.
After falling behind 1-0 in the third minute, SJU (6-1-1) tied the game on a penalty kick goal from senior Emily Gingrich in the 25th minute.
Sophomore forward Dakota Mills added to her team lead in goals with her sixth on the season at 35:05 off a cross from Kylie D'Ambra to give Saint Joseph's a 2-1 edge.
Rookie goalkeeper Cameron Perrott and the Hawks' defense would make the lead stand as they held the Lions without a shot on goal from there. Perrott improved to 6-1-1 on the season with the victory.
As a team, the Hawks finished with a 13-7 edge in shots as it moved to 5-0-1 since a 1-0 loss at #22 Rutgers on August 26.
Columbia's Emma Anderson was credited with the game's opening goal off a rebound, while the Lions ended the game with a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Saint Joseph's returns to action next Friday at LIU Brooklyn at 4 p.m.
