Box Score MARYLAND HEIGHTS, Mo. – Three Hawks posted two-goal games as the Saint Joseph's field hockey team cruised to a 7-0 rout of Saint Louis at Sportport on Friday night.
Saint Joseph's (6-3 overall, 2-0 Atlantic 10) got the scoring started seven minutes in as sophomore forward Anna Willocks scored her league-leading 11th goal of the season, taking a pass from freshman midfielder Pepa Serrano after a penalty corner.
Willocks then set up senior forward Kerri Turk less than a minute later for her first of two on the night to double the SJU advantage.
Saint Louis (1-7 overall, 0-2 Atlantic 10) had its best opportunity of the half four minutes later as Molly Feid fired on target, but senior goalkeeper Amelia Deibler made the save to keep the lead at two goals, where it stayed for the remainder of the period.
The Hawks put the game out of reach with three goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half. Just over three minutes in, Willocks and Turk connected for a second time, as the senior tucked one home from near the far post to extend the lead to 3-0.
The goal gave Turk her second consecutive two-goal game against the Billikens; she also tallied twice as the Hawks defeated SLU, 8-0, on September 25 of last year.
Not long after, freshman back Kathrin Bentz tallied her first of two goals on the night, and the first of her collegiate career, converting a penalty stroke to push the lead to four.
Freshman forward Emily Sayre notched her first collegiate goal a minute later, taking a pass from Turk in front of the cage. Bentz followed with her second of the game after a penalty corner, with sophomore midfielder Monica Tice and freshman back Courtney Gerber earning assists.
Willocks closed out the scoring with just over six minutes to play to set the final margin.
Deibler notched her second shutout of the season, while Jessie Bryan made 12 saves for Saint Louis.
The Hawks dominated the box score, outshooting the Billikens 25-4 for the game, including 15-1 in the second half. SJU also enjoyed a 5-1 advantage in corner opportunities.
Saint Joseph's will host #20 Albany on Sunday afternoon. Game time at Ellen Ryan Field is set for 3:00 p.m.
