Pat Calathes '08 to be Inducted into Basketball Hall of Fame at April 6 Banquet

Former Saint Joseph's standout Pat Calathes '08 will be inducted into the school's Basketball Hall of Fame at the 63rd Annual Men's Basketball Awards Banquet on Friday, April 6 at Drexelbrook Catering in Drexel Hill. The Hawks' 2017-18 team will also be honored with special recognition given to SJU's senior class.

Calathes led the 2007-08 Hawks in scoring with 17.5 points per game as well as rebounding (7.5) and blocked shots (1.2) as Saint Joseph's went 21-13, reached the Atlantic 10 Championship game and earned a bid to the NCAA Tournament. The 6-10 guard was a two-time selection to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Team, earning first-team honors as a senior, while being named to 2008 A-10 All-Championship Team.

Calathes finished his career with 1,251 points and currently ranks 34th on the Hawks' all-time list, while his total of 630 rebounds is the 26th best in school history. The native of Casselberry, Fla., still holds the SJU record for most consecutive free throws made with 38 in 2007.

Saint Joseph's will also honor senior players Michael Booth, James Demery, Shavar Newkirk, Kyle Thompson, Christian Vega and Jai Williams, along with team managers at the banquet.The 2018 Hawks won seven of their final nine games to earn the fourth seed in the Atlantic 10 Championship, and advanced to the semifinals. SJU finished the year 16-16 and 10-8 in the league.

The evening begins with a reception at 6 p.m. followed by dinner and the awards program at 7 p.m. Tickets are $60 and can be purchased online at: alumni.sju.edu/mbb
