Senior Spotlight: Bridget McNierney, Women's Track and Field

Due to the cancellation of the spring sports season, members of the Class of 2020 are missing out on their own special Senior Day experience. In light of that, we will be spotlighting them here on SJUHawks.com as the spring semester winds down. Today, we will honor Bridget McNierney, a graduate student member of the Saint Joseph's women's track and field team.

"Bridget is a true competitor!" said head coach Melody O'Reilly. "She had returned to SJU for her fifth year, only to have it canceled. There will be many more training days ahead, and Bridget will embrace them with all the enthusiasm that she always does. It has been a pleasure working with her."

1. What is your favorite Saint Joseph's track and field memory?

My favorite SJU track memory was running the 4x400m relay at outdoor A-10s my senior year. We ran the race completely by ourselves, but it really brought us together as a team.

2. How would you like to be remembered as a member of the Saint Joseph's track and field program?
I would like to be remembered as a supportive and dedicated teammate and a great friend.

3. What has being a member of the Saint Joseph's track and field program taught you?
This program has taught me leadership and dedication and the importance of having a tight-knit, supportive group of teammates.

4. What will you take out of your involvement with the Saint Joseph's track and field program moving forward?
This program has given me self-confidence and discipline that I will carry with me throughout my future. Being a track athlete has been an experience like no other, and it has helped me overcome conflict and come out stronger. Most importantly, I have made friendships that will last a lifetime!

5. Describe the relationship of this senior class.
As a graduate student, the senior class really adopted me into their own. This year would not have been the same without this amazing, funny, supportive group of friends.

6. What will you miss the most about Saint Joseph's track and field?
I will miss showing up to practice every day and seeing all my friends. As grueling as they were sometimes, practice was often the best part of my busy days because I got to put everything else aside and spend time with my teammates.

7. What is your funniest Saint Joseph's memory?
There are too many memories to count, but definitely some that happened during the fall preseason!
