Bay State Road Trip Pits #11 Field Hockey Against #21 UMass, #12 Boston College

The Saint Joseph's field hockey team has a pair of road games against ranked teams on its weekend slate, as the Hawks will visit #21 UMass for a critical Atlantic 10 matchup before visiting #12 Boston College two days later.

LAST TIME OUT: Saint Joseph's (10-3 overall, 4-0 Atlantic 10) rolled in its only game last weekend, turning in another dominant performance in a 6-0 win over visiting Lock Haven last Friday...Freke van Tilburg finished with two goals and an assist while Cassidy Atchison and Sol Borensztein added a goal and an assist apiece...Robin Bleekemolen made two saves on the day for her sixth shutout of the season.

UMass (9-4 overall, 2-1 Atlantic 10) got a late goal from Georgie McTear to earn a 2-1 win at Saint Louis last Friday before returning home and blanking Yale, 3-0, on Sunday courtesy of two more goals from McTear...Boston College (9-3 overall) had a successful road trip, notching a 1-0 overtime win at Virginia before shutting out Richmond, 3-0.

LEADERS: Van Tilburg leads the Hawks with 25 points; her 10 goals are second on the team, while her five assists tie her for second...Manu Ghigliotti leads the team with 11 goals, and her 23 points are good for second...Katy Benton leads the way with eight assists, with van Tilburg and Cassidy Atchison both chipping in with five...Bleekemolen has started every game for the Hawks, turning in a 1.26 goals against average and a .696 save percentage.

McTear leads the Minutewoman attack with six goals and 12 points on the season, while three different players have notched three goals apiece...Amalie Green's seven assists are a team high, while her 11 points rank her second behind McTear...Marlise van Tonder has been outstanding in the cage, posting a 1.11 GAA and a save percentage of .813...Milagros Arteta is BC's leading goal scorer with six, while her 12 points tie her with Fusine Govaert for second on the squad...Sarah Johnson leads the team with five assists and 13 points on the season...Jonna Kennedy has made 10 starts between the pipes with a 1.89 GAA and a .683 save percentage...Emily Gillespie has also seen time in three games, making two starts.

ALL-TIME SERIES: UMass leads the all-time series with Saint Joseph's, 32-10, but the Hawks have had the better of the Minutewomen recently, having won five in a row and six of the last seven…The Hawks and the Eagles have split a pair of games, with BC taking a 1-0 win in 2000 and SJU earning a dramatic 5-4 win in Newton in 2019.

NOTEWORTHY: The Hawks held steady at #11 in this week's NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll, while UMass slipped a spot to #21 and Boston College moved up two places to #12…Bleekemolen's league-leading sixth shutout of the season led her to earning the Atlantic 10's Defensive Player of the Week honor for the second time this season…Borensztein's performance against Lock Haven earned her the A-10 Rookie of the Week award…It marks the fifth consecutive week that a Hawk has earned the honor, as Ghigliotti had grabbed at least a share of it in each of the previous four weeks… McTear was named the Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Week after her three-goal weekend…Van Tilburg leads the conference in points while Ghigliotti sits in second; the two switch places on the goal chart, with Ghigliotti's 11 leading van Tilburg's 10…Benton's eight assists put her in a tie for the league lead in that category…Ghigliotti ranks ninth in the country in goals per game, while she and van Tilburg rank 12th and 13th, respectively, in points per game…The Hawks have the seventh-most prolific offense in the nation, checking in at 3.31 goals per game and are sixth in points per game with 9.23…SJU also leads Division I with 8.23 penalty corners earned per game; UMass sits fifth with 7.85.
