PHILADELPHIA – Making her Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship debut, Jenny Sidarous earned All-CACC honors by placing 11th at the 2021 edition of the event at Belmont Plateau on Sunday morning.
The redshirt-freshman ran a new collegiate personal record 5K to do so, 21:24.4, as she was the fourth rookie to cross in the field of 71.
Sidarous becomes the first All-CACC runner in the program since Gabby Moss in 2018.
Dylan Zuch led the USciences men, who placed eighth amongst the 12 teams, with a career-best 20th-place finish.
Having previously placed 58th as a freshman and 44th as a sophomore, the senior crossed in the top-fourth of the field of 80 with a time of 29:20.4.
William Hallinan crossed seven positions behind Zuch for to surpass his previous best CACC Championship finish of 28th set in 2018 as a sophomore. The graduate student clocked a new season-best time of 29:53.9.
Sian Poteat-Romero also set a new CACC Championship personal-best by finishing 62nd, nine spots better than his debut as a freshman.
Graduate student Paige Jacobs was the second Devil to cross in the women's race with a season-best 5K of 25:52.7, while junior Katie Benincasa ran her first 5K of the year in 26:31.2.
Ciaran Dubeck, Sabrina Abbruzzese (27:59.4), Kayla Nueva (28:35.3) and Sarah Herter (28:43.7) all made their CACC Championship debuts, with the latter three setting new collegiate personal records.
Lucas Burkhardt and Abdel Awad also made their CACC Championship debuts, setting new season-bests of 40:04.1 and 48:47.3.
